alea iacta esto

Last Time I Lost Hope

Last time I lost hope, I lost out
Later I found,
I should not have been so in doubt

I bugged my eyes and freaked out
The cry, the sound
Rent a heart accustomed to rout

(But, there’s always a but)

Next time I lose hope, mark this
I’ll be ready
And won’t roll over easy
P’raps, I have many a time said this
I’ll be ready
And won’t roll over easy

(But, and here’s the but)

This time I do really mean it
So, be brave my soul and stick with it
Away with dreams and feckless pining
You unlike the year, are not young but ageing
Blaze your trail resolved like an athlete
And I bet, you’ll triumph and won’t mind it a bit
